Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Alexandria walked away with it. They blew past the Riverdale Rebels 58-35 on Monday. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 23 points or more this season.
Alexandria was led to victory by Kenya Russell and Jamaari Collins. Russell posted 12 points and eight rebounds, while Collins to rack up 15 points in addition to five boards and four steals. That's the most points Collins has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyla Stewart, who earned eight points.
Alexandria smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.
Alexandria has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-6 record this season. Riverdale's loss dropped their record down to 21-5.
Coming up, Alexandria will take on John Curtis Christian on Thursday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Bailey Timmons and Thamerin Balthazar. Riverdale does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
