Basketball Recap: Capistrano Valley Christian Drops Season-High Score on the Webb Schools

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Capistrano Valley Christian). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat The Webb Schools Gauls 91-46. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Capistrano Valley Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Michael Ahern, who went 12 for 17 on his way to 30 points and eight rebounds. The game was Ahern's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Matthew Ahern, who went 10 of 17 en route to 23 points and five steals.

Capistrano Valley Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why The Webb Schools lost, don't look at Josef Sharifi. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. Nick Wang was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Capistrano Valley Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to offensive rebounds: they averaged an imposing 9.6 offensive boards in those games compared to only 9.6 in the others. As for The Webb Schools, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

Capistrano Valley Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 93-58 victory against Tarbut V' Torah on the 18th. As for The Webb Schools, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 69-39 win against Avalon on the 18th.
