The Kossuth Aggies will take on the Marshall Academy Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Kossuth comes in on five and Marshall Academy on three.
On Thursday, Kossuth made easy work of Mantachie and carried off a 16-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Aggies, who have now won eight games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Ayden Wilbanks made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other pitching news, Baylor Kelly looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Ethan Killough was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Noah Caldwell was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Kossuth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, while Marshall Academy put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for West Union. The Patriots skirted past the Eagles 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Patriots have posted since February 27th.
Not much got past Gage Todd, who gave up just three hits to keep West Union off the board. Todd also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Marshall Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 8-11 otherwise.
At the plate, Marshall Academy's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cash Redding, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Kossuth's record now sits at 14-3. As for Marshall Academy, their record is now 10-12.
Marshall Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Kossuth hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. It's a different story for Marshall Academy, though, as they've only averaged .258. Will they be able to contain Kossuth's hitters?
