Phillip Sharpe made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. He has become a key player for Marshall Academy: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 1-2 otherwise. Sharpe was even better at the plate, scoring three runs while going 4-for-5. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kyler Todd, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. He also put up three hits, which were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Tucker Chumney, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Cormorant). They came out on top against North Delta by a score of 12-9 on Thursday.
Jake Romero was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Michael Callahan was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
The victory got Marshall Academy back to even at 3-3. As for Lake Cormorant, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3.
Everything went Marshall Academy's way against Lake Cormorant when the teams last played back in February, as Marshall Academy made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marshall Academy since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
