Bowie came out on top against Mansfield Summit on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Volunteers walked away with an 8-4 win over the Jaguars. Winning may never get old, but the Volunteers sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Jaxon Turner made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Zion Sturghill was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Raul Sanchez III, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
Bowie's record now sits at 10-16. As for Mansfield Summit, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-13 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Bowie will face off against Lamar at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mansfield Summit, they will challenge Molina at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
