The Westinghouse Warriors can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 58-22 win over Lincoln Park at home. Given Westinghouse's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while Lincoln Park is ranked 487th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Westinghouse's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jamilah Jackson led the charge by scoring 16 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Jackson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. LaMonyca Bryant was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Westinghouse pushed their record up to 15-3 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Lincoln Park, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-17.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westinghouse will take on Orr at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Orr focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight last Monday. As for Lincoln Park, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Taft at 5:00 p.m. on January 24th. Taft is coming into the game hot, having won their last eight games.
