Make it eight blowout wins for the Williams Vikings this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Grand Canyon 62-16 at home. The victory was just what Williams needed coming off of a 75-45 defeat in their prior contest.
Williams' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from JP Echeverria, who scored 14 points. Echeverria's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Nickoli Cody was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Grand Canyon struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Williams racked up 15 assists.
Williams' victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-9. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points per game. As for Grand Canyon, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-21.
Williams and Seligman will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Seligman knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Williams likes a good challenge. As for Grand Canyon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ash Fork at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
