Snow Canyon has gone 9-1 against Hurricane recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Snow Canyon Warriors will look to defend their home court against the Hurricane Tigers at 7:00 p.m. The timing isn't great for Snow Canyon: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Hurricane has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
Snow Canyon is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest loss since December 6, 2024 on Wednesday. They came up short against Dixie, falling 58-35. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Flyers are ranked 27th).
Gil Lamoreaux put forth a good effort for the losing side as he posted 11 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Reggie Mackay, who put up ten points and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Hurricane hadn't done well against Crimson Cliffs recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Hurricane managed a 59-55 win over Crimson Cliffs.
Snow Canyon better focus on containing Brigham Kemp and Calan Hughes as the pair were huge in Hurricane's win. Kemp went 9 for 15 on his way to 26 points and five boards, while Hughes dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Kemp's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Thailand Gubler was another key player, putting up four points and 11 boards.
Snow Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Hurricane, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Snow Canyon has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Hurricane struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Snow Canyon couldn't quite finish off Hurricane in their previous meeting back in January and fell 60-58. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hughes, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. Now that Snow Canyon knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
