The St. Paul Flyers will face off against the South Central Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
St. Paul took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Mapleton a 6-0 shutout. Considering the Flyers have won four matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Isabella Guerra, who gave up just eight hits to keep Mapleton off the board. Guerra has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, St. Paul let Ella Kalizewski and Taegan Mansfield-Bush run wild. Kalizewski went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI, while Mansfield-Bush went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Zoe Roth was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
South Central came out on top against Western Reserve on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run third inning. The Trojans put the hurt on the Roughriders with a sharp 13-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.
Viola Culler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Culler was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Sanders, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ember Phillips, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.
South Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.
The win got St. Paul back to even at 6-6. As for South Central, their victory bumped their record up to 3-10.
St. Paul suffered a grim 12-3 defeat to South Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Flyers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
