It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Bishop Gorman Gaels had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Coronado at home to the tune of 63-12. The victory was just business as usual for Bishop Gorman, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.
Micah Kaapana went supernova for Bishop Gorman, rushing for 189 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Micah Alejado was another key contributor, throwing for 214 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes.
Despite the loss, Coronado still got an impressive performance from Scott Holper, who picked up 81 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Bishop Gorman has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 11-0 record. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 46.83 points. As for Coronado, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Bishop Gorman will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on November 21st. Liberty will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. Coronado does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
