Delaware Valley Charter (Philadelphia, Pa.) and
Prep Charter (Philadelphia, Pa.) both tightened up defensively, but Delaware Valley Charter managed to score enough to pull out the 14-8 victory.
Delaware Valley Charter scored on a defensive touchdown and a passing touchdown to secure the victory.
The lead that DVC took on a defensive touchdown with less than a minute remaining in the second quarter stood up for the duration of the game, as neither team managed to score in the second half.
Jovan Matthews made a difference for Prep Charter. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.
PC's lone touchdown came on an 11-yard run by Matthews in the second quarter.
Delaware Valley Charter entered the contest giving up 18.6 points per game this year. DVC held firm on the defensive front, and kept Prep Charter well below the 28.8 points it had been averaging per game.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which PC took, 30-0.
With the win Delaware Valley Charter extended its winning streak to three games.
Delaware Valley Charter (6-3) goes up against John Bartram in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Prep Charter (5-4) locks horns with Edward Bok Vo-Tech also in a non-conference game.
