Madison Medvec was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Poland Seminary got a massive performance out of Kylee Hudran, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most hits Hudran has posted since back in April. Elliana Thompson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Poland Seminary was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. They are 8-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Lakeview and South Range meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 9-4.
Isabella Isenberg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kalyssa Werner was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Annaliese Dejulio, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Lakeview is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Poland Seminary, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Poland Seminary hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .391.
