The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Veritas Christian has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Faith Christian Academy will arrive with four straight victories.
Veritas Christian suffered their biggest defeat since December 7, 2023 on Saturday. They had to suffer through a rough 74-29 loss at the hands of Wichita HomeSchool. Veritas Christian has not had much luck with Wichita HomeSchool recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Veritas Christian had strong showings from Josh Nadvornik, who scored nine points, and Abel Ney, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Faith Christian Academy greeted the New Year with with a 62-44 win over Veritas Christian. Given Faith Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 89th in Missouri, while Veritas Christian is ranked 298th in Kansas), the result last Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Faith Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Max McMillen, who scored 12 points along with nine assists and two steals. McMillen has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Josiah Dull was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with six rebounds.
Veritas Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Faith Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Veritas Christian, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 62-44 loss to Faith Christian Academy in their previous matchup last Saturday.
