DeSoto County has gone 8-2 against Avon Park recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will head out to take on the Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Avon Park will be up against a hot DeSoto County squad: the team just extended their winning streak to nine. The Bulldogs blew past Bayshore 25-1 on Monday. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Caleigh Jo Duke looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, DeSoto County got a massive performance out of Emery Skinner, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. The dominant performance also gave Skinner a new career-high in RBI (five). Another player making a difference was Ellie Whidden, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.
DeSoto County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 12 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Avon Park hadn't done well against Frostproof recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Red Devils were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over the Bulldogs. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Paisley Macias made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. Macias was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, Marianna Salinas was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Skylar Hicks was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
DeSoto County's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Avon Park, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
DeSoto County couldn't quite get it done against Avon Park when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 9-4. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
