Video: Highlights of Kairee Robinson
Top runs of De La Salle's Robinson in the state Open title game against St. John Bosco. The 2017 football schedule of perennial national power
De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) was announced after its banquet Sunday night.
As reported here Thursday, the Spartans will travel to defending national champion
Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nev.) in week three of the season — official dates and times are yet to be determined — two weeks after hosting perennial East Coast power
St. John's (Washington, District of Columbia).
Others on De La Salle's nonleague schedule is
Saint Francis (Mountain View, Calif.) (week 2),
Central (Fresno, Calif.) (week 4) and
Bishop O'Dowd (Oakland, Calif.) (week 5). All of those are home games.
The game that will demand most attention is Bishop Gorman, which has won 54 consecutive games and picked as mythical national champions by USA Today three consecutive seasons.
Gorman loses MaxPreps 2016 National Player of the Year, quarterback
Tate Martell, but returns two junior All-Americans, tight end
Brevin Jordan and middle linebacker
Palaie Gaoteote.
Gorman also returns
Dorian Thompson-Robinson, rated the No. 4 dual threat quarterback in the country, and leading receiver
Jalen Nailor.
The deal with Gorman is two years, with De La Salle hosting the Gaels in 2018.
De La Salle should be loaded on the line, on defense and at running back, including first-team All-Metro performer
Kairee Robinson, who rushed for 2,012 yards and 25 touchdowns. The Spartans also figure to return sophomore All-American linebacker
Henry To'ot'o and top two-way lineman recruit
Tuli Letuligasenoa.
