After a string of three wins, the Alice Coyotes's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 53-46 to Incarnate Word Academy. Alice lost against Incarnate Word Academy in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 47-41 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Alice lost, one person who can't be blamed is Calvin Villanueva. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with five assists. Villanueva scored a full 39.1% of Alice's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Mason Trevino was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Alice's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Incarnate Word Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season.
Alice is on the road again on Saturday and play against Odem at 4:00 p.m. on December 9th. As for Incarnate Word Academy, they will square off against Ingleside at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday. Ingleside is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
