Northwest Whitfield's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over Calhoun. Given Northwest Whitfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Calhoun are ranked 244th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last match, Gilmer made sure to put some goals up on the board against Ridgeland on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Panthers. Gilmer might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by three goals or more this season.

Yenifer Lopez and Joei Marshall scored all 11 of Gilmer's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 22 goals.

Northwest Whitfield's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four games. As for Gilmer, their record is now 6-4.

Northwest Whitfield was able to grind out a solid victory over Gilmer when the teams last played back in February of 2019, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northwest Whitfield since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
