Morgan Siegel and Makayla Brown were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Siegel pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Brown struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). What's more, Siegel posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Siegel scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Brown scored a run while going 3-for-5. Siegel also brought in two RBI, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Emma Welsh was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Klahold, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
Berwick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Holy Redeemer sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Lake-Lehman on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Royals.
Anne Carter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Zoe Pecuch, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Hayden, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
The victory got Berwick back to even at 2-2. As for Holy Redeemer, their record is now 3-1.
Berwick's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. The Bulldogs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Holy Redeemer, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Berwick continue to outrun the ball?
Berwick came out on top in a nail-biter against Holy Redeemer in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
