Baseball Recap: Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Glencliff Colts a 12-0 shutout. The Royals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 12 runs or more this season.

Brey Bacher was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other pitching news, Graham McCoy looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Brendan Cox was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, two RBI, and one run. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Cooper Hubbard was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-8. As for Glencliff, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet will venture away from home to take on Lawson at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Glencliff, they will head out to challenge Mount Juliet Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
