Ramona Convent has gone 9-1 against Bishop Conaty-Loretto recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Wildcats at 3:15 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Things were looking good for Ramona Convent after they put the first run on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of South Gate by a score of 8-7.
Abigail Vazquez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Mariana Figueroa, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Bishop Conaty-Loretto faced off against Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary on Tuesday. The Wildcats came up short against the Cardinals, falling 12-6. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Cardinals recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Jaslyn Sigaran spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered 12 runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jocelyn Antonio was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI. Angelique Aguillon was another key player, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Bishop Conaty-Loretto's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Ramona Convent, their loss dropped their record down to 15-7.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ramona Convent hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .506. However, it's not like Bishop Conaty-Loretto struggles in that department as they've averaged .317. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ramona Convent skirted past Bishop Conaty-Loretto 5-4 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
