The Howells-Dodge Jaguars will take on the Lawrence-Nelson Raiders on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Howells-Dodge sitting on ten straight wins and Lawrence-Nelson on nine.
Howells-Dodge is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Overton, posting a 44-8 victory. Considering the Jaguars have won seven games by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Hunter Luther had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 285 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per carry. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run. Howells-Dodge also got a significant boost from Oliver Belina, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Howells-Dodge was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 414 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Another reason for the win was Howells-Dodge's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Luther and Jax Nelson, who racked up all five sacks between them. Luther is also crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lawrence-Nelson). They breezed past Elmwood-Murdock to the tune of 78-42 on Friday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 70-24.
Howells-Dodge better keep an eye on Wyatt Frey. He was instrumental in Lawrence-Nelson's win, rushing for 272 yards and seven TDs while picking up 13.0 yards per carry, and also throwing for 80 yards and one touchdown while completing 85.7% of his passes. Those seven rushing touchdowns gave Frey a new career-high.
Howells-Dodge's record is now 10-0. As for Lawrence-Nelson, their record now sits at 9-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Howells-Dodge has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 282.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Lawrence-Nelson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 267.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Howells-Dodge didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Lawrence-Nelson when the teams last played back in August, but they still walked away with a 28-24 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Frey, who rushed for 196 yards and one score while picking up 7.5 yards per carry, and also threw for 111 yards and one TD. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Jaguars still be able to contain Frey? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
