The Chaparral Wolverines will venture away from home to challenge the Cactus Shadows Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
While Wolverines fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Tuesday's season opener. They put the hurt on Fort Collins with a sharp 14-8 win on Tuesday. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Lambkins recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Beckett Bacon looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryne Dodson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Logan Manuello, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Chaparral was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Collins only posted a batting average of .250.
Meanwhile, while Cactus Shadows put up plenty of runs last Tuesday, the same can't be said for Thunderbird. Cactus Shadows was the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over Thunderbird. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by seven runs or more this season.
Henry Verhamme made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other pitching news, Grayson Headon looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
Back at the plate, Dominic Ziccarelli was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Owen Konerko also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Chaparral came out on top in a nail-biter against Cactus Shadows when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Does Chaparral have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cactus Shadows turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
