North Buncombe had to settle for second on Thursday, but Sadie Jo Hunter sure wasn't going down easily. A.C. Reynolds had no answer to Hunter as she struck out 20 batters over 11.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). Hunter has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

Looking ahead, Hunter and North Buncombe will head out on the road to square off against T.C. Roberson at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Black Hawks got just the result they wanted when they last faced the Rams thanks in part to Hunter: she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched.
