Elmira's hitters rose to the challenge against a River Hawks pitching crew that boasted an average of only four runs allowed on Friday. The Express were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Owego Free Academy River Hawks. Considering the Express have won five games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Ava Cornacchio made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Cornacchio was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Addison Taft was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Madelynn Cavalier also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
