Edsel Ford and Lincoln Park are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Thunderbirds will face off against the Railsplitters at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Edsel Ford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Edsel Ford proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Taylor 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Thunderbirds have posted since May 8, 2024.
Chase Gilbert made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 12 matches.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Kowalsky, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. John Polster was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Edsel Ford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Lincoln Park had to endure a ten-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Summit Academy North 16-6 on Monday. The Railsplitters not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 24-0).
Edsel Ford's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln Park, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-10.
Edsel Ford was able to grind out a solid win over Lincoln Park when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 4-0. Do the Thunderbirds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Railsplitters turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
