Basketball Game Preview: Bellevue East Chieftains vs. Millard South Patriots

Bellevue East is 1-9 against Millard South since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bellevue East Chieftains will venture away from home to take on the Millard South Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Bellevue East has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 191 points over their last three games.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Bellevue East beat Millard West 60-55.

Bellevue East's success was spearheaded by the efforts of TNiyah Wilson-Smith, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 22 points, and Jayla Wilson, who went 9 for 15 on her way to 23 points. Wilson-Smith's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Weber, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, Millard South's undefeated season came to an end after four games on Tuesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 48-47 to Marian. The loss was the Patriots' first of the season.

Bellevue East will have to keep a close watch on Abbi Durow and Aubrey Carder, a pair of players who had a big impact on Millard South's prior game. Durow went 6 of 14 on her way to 17 points and four steals, while Carder went 5 of 11 on her way to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Cleveland, who put up five points and five rebounds.

Bellevue East pushed their record up to 2-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Millard South, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Bellevue East didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Millard South when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 53-48 win.
