The Newell Irrigators couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a serious blow against Harding County on Friday, falling 64-20. Newell lost against Harding County in their previous head to head back in December of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 73-21 score last time.
Among those leading the charge was Payton Dvorak, who scored 18 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Evan Meyer was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Newell's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Harding County, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Lead-Deadwood the next time they take the court. Harding County will host Lead-Deadwood at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Newell will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
