Spackenkill is 7-0 against Dover since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Spackenkill Spartans will look to defend their home court against the Dover Dragons at 5:45 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Spackenkill put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They breezed by Mount Academy at home to the tune of 71-44. Given Spackenkill's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Mount Academy is ranked 279th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Dover didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Hawthorne Valley on Wednesday, but they still walked away with a 54-50 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Dover.
Dover's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Justin Cardwell, who scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Caden Green, who scored 18 points.
Spackenkill's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Dover, they pushed their record up to 6-10 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Spackenkill against Dover when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 87-29 win. Will Spackenkill repeat their success, or does Dover have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
