The Mercy School Institute Mustangs suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They were outmatched by Immanuel Lutheran Christian Academy on the road and fell 77-35. While losing is never fun, Mercy School Institute can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while Immanuel Lutheran Christian Academy is ranked 96th).
Sheen Saunders Jr was his usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with seven rebounds for Immanuel Lutheran Christian Academy. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Saunders Jr has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bonfils Kabwe, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Mercy School Institute's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Immanuel Lutheran Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercy School Institute on the road again on Friday and play against Cristo Rey at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Cristo Rey is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Immanuel Lutheran Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
