The Licking Valley Panthers will square off against the Tri-Valley Scotties at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Tri-Valley took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Licking Valley, who comes in off a win.
Tri-Valley will be up against a hot Licking Valley team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Panthers put the hurt on Lancaster with a sharp 7-1 win on Monday.
Emory Whisner made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Chloe Cooperider was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025. D'Neya Dennis was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.
John Glenn hit Tri-Valley with a four-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Scotties lost 9-2 to the Muskies. The Scotties have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Tri-Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gerran Matthews, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Keah Jones also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Tri-Valley's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Licking Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
Tri-Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Licking Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Tri-Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 2.3 strikeouts. Will Licking Valley keep running through batters, or will the Scotties buck the trend?
Licking Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Tri-Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 5-3. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Scotties have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
