The Plainfield Quakers have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell to Franklin Central 41-36. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Plainfield has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Plainfield lost on Tuesday, one person who can't be blamed is Payton Benge. Despite the final result, she scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Benge continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Berkeley Williams, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Franklin Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lily Graves, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Riley Huotari was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two blocks.
Plainfield's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Franklin Central, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 11-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Plainfield on the road again on Friday and play against Mooresville at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Mooresville will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive. As for Franklin Central, they will head out on the road to take on Noblesville at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Averaging 58.2 so far this season, Noblesville's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Franklin Central better be ready for a challenge.
