It was a good run, but the Union Academy Cardinals unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 71-54 bruising from Albemarle. Union Academy has not had much luck with Albemarle recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Union Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Paisley Boatright. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds. Boatright hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ranon Suttle, who scored ten points along with five steals.
Union Academy's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-2. As for Albemarle, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union Academy will face off against Gray Stone Day at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Gray Stone Day will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 453rd, while Union Academy is ranked 117th). As for Albemarle, they will head out on the road to face off against Mount Pleasant at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
