The Horizon Hawks will head out on the road to challenge the Legacy Lightning at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Horizon came into this matchup off a tough nine-run loss on Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Niwot by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Hawks have suffered since March 21, 2024.
Horizon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Aaron, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Aaron also put up a run, which was his first of the season.
Meanwhile, Legacy entered their tilt with Mead on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Mavericks. Considering the Lightning have won five matches by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Jason Olsen made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Hudson Griffith and Kellen Reiser did most of the damage at the plate: Griffith went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Reiser scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most RBI Griffith has posted since back in April of 2024. Chase Hoelting was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Legacy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Legacy now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Horizon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.
Horizon took their victory against Legacy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-1 score. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Lightning have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
