Fort Wayne Wayne took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Hamilton, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Generals skirted past the Marines 10-8. The high-scoring effort was just what the Generals needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Alyssa Hathaway was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Hathaway was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Fort Wayne Wayne got a massive performance out of Zierre Akison, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those four hits gave Akison a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Faith Couture, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Fort Wayne Wayne kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Bluffton came up short against Woodlan on Thursday, falling 17-2.
Bluffton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josie Phillippe, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Kierstynn Reed also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Fort Wayne Wayne's record is now 2-4. As for Bluffton, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
Fort Wayne Wayne's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. The Generals have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Bluffton, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Fort Wayne Wayne continue to outrun the ball?
Fort Wayne Wayne might still be hurting after the 21-4 loss they got from Bluffton when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Generals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
