The Elmore County Panthers will take on the Sylacauga Aggies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Elmore County was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Marbury on Friday. The Panthers blew past the Bulldogs 35-3. That 32 point margin sets a new team best for the Panthers this season.

Elmore County can attribute much of their success to Tyler Payton, who gained 148 total yards, and Gage Davis, who rushed for 53 yards and one score on only five carries. What's more, Payton racked up 95 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in August of 2024.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Elmore County proved: they limited Marbury to a paltry 1.3 yards per carry. The Panthers are a perfect 3-0 when they shut down the run game so well.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Sylacauga ultimately got the result they hoped for last Friday. They slipped by Marbury 36-35.
Elmore County better keep an eye on Cj Franklin. He was instrumental in Sylacauga's win, throwing for 272 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 52 yards and one TD.
Elmore County's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Sylacauga, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-4.
Everything came up roses for Elmore County against Sylacauga when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 36-7 win. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Aggies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
