Lexington Catholic got a great performance from Jack Reeves as he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits (and not a single walk). Those nine strikeouts gave Reeves a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Jake Scott and Owen Jenkins did most of the damage at the plate: Scott went 1-for-4 with three RBI and two runs, while Jenkins went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Jenkins has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when George Rogers Clark challenged Frankfort on Tuesday. The Cardinals took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers.
George Rogers Clark saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tielor Howie, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Gunnar Martin was another, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
Lexington Catholic pushed their record up to 14-7-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for George Rogers Clark, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lexington Catholic has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like George Rogers Clark struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lexington Catholic came out on top in a nail-biter against George Rogers Clark in their previous matchup on Sunday, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
