The Johnson County Trojans had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.3 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 68-43 margin over Hancock Central. Johnson County's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Johnson County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Keondria Jenkins, who scored 16 points along with seven steals. Another player making a difference was Curmya Blair, who scored 13 points along with five assists and five steals.
Hancock Central's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaliyah Hargrove, who scored 13 points, and Key'Nya Scott who scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hargrove has scored all season.
Johnson County pushed their record up to 10-4 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Hancock Central, their loss dropped their record down to 4-15.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Johnson County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on February 3rd. As for Hancock Central, they will head out on the road to square off against the Cobras at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
