Liberty ended up on the wrong side of a tough 78-53 walloping at the hands of Belton-Honea Path. Liberty was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-15.
Liberty's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Logan Smith, who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Smith scored a full 28.3% of Liberty's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Dawson Owen was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals.
Liberty has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Belton-Honea Path, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.
Liberty will head out on the road to face off against Pickens at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Belton-Honea Path, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crescent at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
