The Northgate Vikings had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They slipped by Douglass 48-47. Given Northgate's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while Douglass is ranked 328th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for DeAsia Stinson, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Stinson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Holly Metz was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Northgate's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Douglass, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northgate will be home for the holidays to greet Lamar County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lamar County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Northgate likes a good challenge. Douglass will be home for the holidays to greet North Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Springs comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
