Buena Vista hasn't had much luck against Lamar recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Demons will take on the Thunder at 12:00 p.m. Buena Vista is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Buena Vista was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Sargent on Wednesday. The Demons put the hurt on the Farmers with a sharp 12-3 win.
Oakley Robison made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Blake Kinkaid looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Buena Vista: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-3 otherwise.

Back at the plate, Knox Reid was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Hudson Wingo also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Buena Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Lamar ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with an 18-14 victory over La Junta. The win continues a trend for the Thunder in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.
Alex Aguilar and Ayden Hose did most of the damage at the plate: Aguilar went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI, while Hose got on base in five of his six plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Aguilar continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cael Buxton, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
Buena Vista's record is now 3-4. As for Lamar, their record now sits at 7-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Buena Vista has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lamar struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Buena Vista couldn't quite get it done against Lamar when the teams last played back in May of 2018 as they fell 9-5. Can the Demons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
