The Turpin Cardinals are still undefeated this season after their match against the Waukomis Chiefs on Thursday, but the Waukomis Chiefs came as close as anyone has to beating them. Turpin came out on top in a nail-biter against Waukomis and snuck past 48-45. Given Turpin's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Waukomis is ranked 80th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Turpin got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bryson Parker out in front who scored 16 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Parker has scored at least 25% of Turpin's points. Gunner Post was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Turpin's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Waukomis, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.
Turpin won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Texhoma at 5:00 p.m. on December 8th. As for Waukomis, they will head out on the road to face off against Okeene at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
