Poudre is 8-1 against the Mustangs since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Poudre Impalas will be staying on the road to face off against the Mountain Range Mustangs at 12:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Hopefully Poudre is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Mustangs in Colorado (the Impalas are ranked 73rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 204th).
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Poudre, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-38 loss to the Lobos.
Despite the defeat, Poudre got a solid performance out of Kavi Voglund, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Voglund continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Jaqueline Forrest was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Mountain Range's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 86-22 loss at the hands of Fort Collins. Mountain Range was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-12.
Poudre's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Mountain Range, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-11.
Everything came up roses for Poudre against the Mustangs in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 51-20 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Poudre since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
