On Wednesday, Varela strolled past Hialeah with points to spare, taking the game 38-24.
Varela's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Leia Vanterpool, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. Alyssa Azcuy was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven steals.
Varela has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Hialeah, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Varela will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Coral Park at 3:30 p.m. on December 15th. As for Hialeah, they will square off against Jackson at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Jackson comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
