Josten Lewis and Ryder Miller stepped up to the plate in a big way. Lewis went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and one run, while Miller went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Webster County is 2-1 when Lewis posts two or more stolen bases, but 7-9 otherwise.
Meanwhile, while Mount View put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Van. The Golden Knights blew past the Bulldogs 15-0. Considering the Golden Knights have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Kyrece Hughes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last ten times he's played.
In other batting news, Mount View let Hunter Muncy and Jacob Wright run wild. Muncy went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Wright went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Wright has posted since back in April. Brayden Brewer was another key player, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.
Mount View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .720. They are 9-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Mount View is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Webster County, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Webster County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mount View struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Webster County came out on top in a nail-biter against Mount View in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, sneaking past 4-2. Do the Highlanders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
