The Leadership Academy Falcons will face off against the Cornerstone Charter Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Leadership Academy is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Clover Garden School just ended the team's three-game winning streak last Friday. They lost 21-10 to the Grizzlies.
Alexandra Faenza led a balanced group of hitters, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Emory Maxwell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, the third road matchup was the charm for Cornerstone Charter, as they earned their first away win of the season. They blew past River Mill 14-6 on Thursday. Considering the Cardinals have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Aubree Reaves made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Reaves was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Delaney Hollern was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Adriana Shelton, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Leadership Academy now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Cornerstone Charter, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 5-8.
Leadership Academy's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. The Falcons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Cornerstone Charter, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Leadership Academy continue to outrun the ball?
