The New Home Leopards put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They blew past Plains, posting a 77-14 victory on the road. Given New Home's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 449th, while Plains is ranked 1112th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
New Home got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Logan Addison out in front who rushed for 61 yards and four touchdowns on only five carries, and also picked up 77 receiving yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevin Mojica, who rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.
When it comes to explaining why Plains lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tyler Vargas. Despite the final result, he threw for 211 yards and two touchdowns.
New Home's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Plains, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Home will take on Morton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Morton is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Plains, they will be playing at home against Ropes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ropes will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
