Pickens let Jayden Ferguson and Maddex Freeman run wild. Ferguson got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one double, while Freeman scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Freeman a new career-high in RBI (two). Preston Scott also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Pickens always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty only posted an OBP of .344.
Pickens' victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Liberty, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-8.
Coming up, Pickens will welcome Palmetto at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Liberty, they will challenge Berea at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Devils are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
