The Plainfield Quakers waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They took down Mooresville 61-42. Given Plainfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Mooresville is ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Collin Schmidt continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Eli Ellis was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Plainfield pushed their record up to 11-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Mooresville, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plainfield will take on Decatur Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mooresville won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Parke Heritage at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. Parke Heritage knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Mooresville likes a good challenge.
