Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Allen

Allen had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They never let the McKinney Lions get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-1 back in February.

Morgan Wright made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in February.

In other batting news, Allen got a massive performance out of Rebecca Liu, who scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. What's more, Liu posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Addie King was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-4.

Allen pushed their record up to 12-12-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for McKinney, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-21-1.

Looking ahead, Allen will take on Midway at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Midway will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Allen surely won't give up without a fight. As for McKinney, a feisty cat fight will be fought as McKinney Lions duke it out with Princeton Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
