After a string of three wins, Westtown's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. The matchup between them and Academy of the New Church wasn't particularly close, with Westtown falling 66-48. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Westtown has scored all season.
Academy of the New Church found their leader in underclassman Ryan Warren, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. Nolan Waldon was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with four steals.
Westtown's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Academy of the New Church, they pushed their record up to 17-4 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
Westtown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Academy of the New Church will play host again and welcome the Friars, where tip off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Malvern Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully the Lions like a good challenge.
